We all have that place that feels like home and when you arrive you hit the ground running. You already know your favourite restaurants, where to get the best cocktail and the best beach… For me that place is Nerja.
Nerja is a traditional Andalucian town nestled between mountains and the Mediterranean sea. The central point is the beautiful Balcon with stunning views across the med and Nerja coastline. As you wander from the Balcon there are many narrow streets with whitewash houses to get lost in. These are filled with boutique shops, tapas bars and laid back restaurants.
For an afternoon of people watching, head to the balcon. You might even be lucky enough to witness a wedding in the beautiful spanish church off the balcon.
There are plenty of beach options in Nerja. The beaches off the balcon are small and friendly but be prepared for the walk back up. If you love watersports, a nice cocktail bar and fabulous paella by the sea then head to Buriana Beach. There is plenty of choice for all tastes. Rent a cabana beside Rincon de Sol and enjoy a relaxing day sipping cocktails and getting lost in a book.
The beautiful town of Frigliana is not to be missed and only a 10 minute drive away in the mountains. Take a trip on the little train or walk to the top through the beautiful streets.
For a day of shopping, head to Malaga City, only an hour away on the bus.
